I simply love the Eclipse IDE. In a nutshell Eclipse IDE manages multiple language development environments in a single IDE. Eclipse is an Open Source project and is generally available free of charge. I prefer using the SDK implementation of Eclipse.
There is probably an implementation of your favorite programming language available via Eclipse IDE. If you believe your favorite language is not supported please contact me in the comments of this article or send me an e mail with the details. I am confident your development environment is supported and I am willing to assist you with the defined implementation.
Milestone seven (M7) is the latest version of the Eclipse IDE available when this article was published.
