George “Buddy” Guy (born July 30, 1936) is one of the most influential electric blues guitarists in history and a direct bridge between Delta blues and modern rock guitar.
Buddy pioneered feedback, wild string bends, screaming high-note solos, and emotional phrasing years before Hendrix or Clapton.
Born in Lettsworth, Louisiana. Built his first guitar from a screen door and fishing line. Moved to Chicago in 1957.
Played with Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, Willie Dixon, and became a key figure in Chicago’s electric blues scene.
Loud, raw, unpredictable. Famous for feedback, screaming notes, fingerstyle attack, and vocal-like phrasing.
Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Stevie Ray Vaughan, John Mayer.
