The Bar-Kays are a legendary American funk and soul band formed in Memphis in 1966,
originally signed to Stax Records and known for blending soul, funk, and R&B.
In 1967, four members died in the plane crash that killed Otis Redding.
The band rebuilt and continued, becoming one of the longest-running funk groups ever.

Bar-Kays influenced hip-hop, disco, and modern R&B, with heavy sampling by
